Halki

Halki is a very Greek, very unspoilt, island just off the west coast of Rhodes. We got our first glimpse from the coastal road to Kameiros Skala (the port from which the Halki ferry leaves Rhodes Island). Itís quite mountainous, just three miles wide and seven miles long, with a crusader castle sitting romantically on its peak!

There is only one settlement on the island, thatís the small fishing village, Which has tiers of Venetian-style stone houses built into the steep crescent which forms the picturesque, natural harbour. All the houses are painted in pastel shades, or left in their natural stone, and the architectural style really enhances the stunning view as the ferry approaches the island. The total absence of ugly, concrete high-rise is one of the things we love about our island!
