Beaches

The two main beaches are Pondamos and Ftanagia, both of which have excellent Tavernas and are a 10 -15 minute walk from the harbour and now also have a regular bus service. Pondamos is a sandy beach, with warm, shallow waters and extremely safe for children.

Several of the Halki’s beaches can be reached on foot or by using the island taxi, others are only accessible by water taxi.

Kania, another shingle beach is a 30 min walk. There is some natural shade here, but no facilities. Yiali is more of a hike, down a track beyond the abandoned village of Chorio, again without facilities.
