Activities available on Halki

�	Relaxing ~ in the bars and tavernas ~on the beaches ~on your balcony or terrace.

�	Swimming and snorkeling ~ the waters around Halki are excellent for these activities, cool (but not cold) and crystal clear, even when very deep, with lots of fish and sea life to be seen.

�

Walking ~ There is excellent walking to be had on Halki, either gentle walking along the made-up road, or more exciting, tougher going, across rough terrain. The views are spectacular whichever way you chose to go. A five mile hike along the road will take you to the monastery of St John, where, for a donation, you can choose to stay overnight in one of the cells. A less arduous, though equally rewarding expedition can be undertaken by climbing to the Crusader castle. For the really serious walkers, it is possible to go on a guided walk, but it�s tough and a little scary - so take your proper walking gear!

�	Take the bus ~ there is now a minibus service to 3 of the beaches, the abandoned village and the monastery.

�	Exploring ~ many a happy hour can be spent just wandering around the narrow streets of the harbour town. There are plenty of delights to come upon, like the wonderful pebble mosaics in the churchyard

Excursions ~There is only one arranged excursion, The Alimnia Picnic. These weekly trips offer an outing by boat to the abandoned island of Alimnia, where you can explore the village and snorkel in the deep water bay and be served a delicious picnic in very informal style. Even if you are not an excursion type, this can be an enjoyable day out. Other excursions must be organised yourself, but can be easily done, the main one being a trip to Rhodes Town, which can be done in a day, or you could stay overnight for a more comprehensive look-round.
