About The House, The Island & Us

A Traditional Halki House

Villa Fiona is a lovingly restored traditional house in the harbour of this delightful island. It is a simple, although elegant, village house, which can sleep up to six adults, with sea views from the balcony and a lovely shady terrace.
The house is arranged on two floors, and has two bedrooms: a double, with sea-view balcony (ideal for those lovely, lazy breakfasts!) and a twin, with harbour views. There is an upstairs shower room & WC. Downstairs is the kitchen (which is kitted out with everything you may need for gourmet cooking!) and a living room with a dining area and comfy sofa bed.

At the front of the house is the terrace where you can sit and enjoy eating al fresco in the shade of an olive tree!

A Haven of Relaxation and Delight

Halki is a pretty island off the coast of Rhodes. Unspoilt by the more unpleasant trappings of tourism, it still offers all the necessary facilities for a wonderfully relaxed holiday. We were given such a warm welcome by its friendly residents and were charmed from the moment we drew into its delightful harbour.

There is only one settlement on the island, that’s the small fishing village, which has tiers of Venetian-style stone houses built into the steep crescent which forms the picturesque, natural harbour. All the houses are painted in pastel shades, or left in their natural stone, and the architectural style really enhances the stunning view as the ferry approaches the island. The total absence of ugly, concrete high-rise is one of the things we love about our island!

There are 3 grocery shops serving the community, all situated around the harbour, and you can get everything you need from fruit and veg to meat and fish - all served with a smile (and the odd free gift!)

Jane Vigurs

I'm in charge of style, colours, website, bookings, customer service and ensuring that everything is up to standard in the house.

Andy Vigurs

The man who did all the work! We bought the house as a derelict, and Andy brought it back to life, living there for 18 months - a lot of it without plumbing or electricity! The hero of the piece, his skills and endurance have made it a house to be be proud of.

The approach to the harbour

It's a picturesque approach with tiers of houses and the clock tower drawing you in. Naturally the café bars and tavernas also beckon, and the first cold beer or freshly squeezed orange juice marks the beginning of a wonderful stay!

Beaches around the island

Pondamos is a wonderful sandy beach with a great taverna set above it. Serving traditional Greek fayre, coffees and cold drinks, a warm welcome awaits. There is also a bar on the lower terrace which serves cocktails, snacks and ice cream

Ftanagia is on the other side of the peninsula, it also has its own taverna and as a more stony cove, offers superb snorkling.

Sunbeds and umbrellas are available on all three of the main beaches of the island.

Kania is a bit of a walk up and over the hill behind the harbour (about 30mins), but you will be rewarded with superb swimming in turquoise waters and wonderful food from the grill, with fresh fish, squid and souvlaki cooked to perfection. There is service to your sunbed so the frappés and beers can flow! You can also get the bus, which runs there from the harbour 3 times a day.
